Installing a Dock on Lake Michigan is challenging. Our dock frames are set up to be secured into the lake bottom. We suggest securing decking using sacrificial zip ties. In the event of a storm, the zip ties are meant to snap and release the decking panel so the dock stays in place. In our years of experience, we have seen many docks get rolled and end up on the beach. The ones that get tossed usually have decking panels fastened to them with screws or bolts. There’s nowhere for the waves to go so they pick up the entire dock and send it sailing. If the panels are made to pop off, you will probably lose a few, but the frame of the dock will most likely stay in place. Nothing is guaranteed, but this method will greatly improve the chances of successfully weathering a storm.

*** Lifetime lift and dock is not liable for any damage to the dock or panels that could occur due to the wave action of the lake****
